Fall 2025 // Spring 2026 | Landwirtschaftliches Zentrum Liebegg
The citizen science project 'Eintüten – Where does our food come from?' invites residents of Suhr and Gränichen to take a closer look at their food consumption in the pilot year of 2025. The focus is on the question: How local are the products we buy every day? Participants analyse the origin of selected foods from their regular shopping and consider how feasible local shopping is today.
The project centres on the direct connection to one's own living environment and the visibility of global and local supply chains. It promotes awareness of the impact of consumer decisions on the environment and society.
Through the active participation of the community, everyday knowledge is linked to scientific enquiry. Participants document the food they buy, research its origin and explore regional alternatives.
This citizen science approach enables reflective engagement with one's own consumption practices, shifting the focus from laboratories to supermarkets, weekly markets and farm shops. At the same time, the project helps to highlight regional supply structures and facilitate discussion about the challenges facing today's food system.
The collected data reveal where our food comes from, how far it has travelled and how easy or difficult it is to shop locally.
The results are prepared and presented publicly, and discussed with interested regional parties. This provides a clear picture of local consumption behaviour, raising awareness and promoting regional alternatives.
In the long term, the project will promote sustainable nutrition directly within people's everyday lives.
